Ballyroan Library Teen Programmes

17-January-24

Subject: Ballyroan Library | Teen programmes

We are delighted to note that our Study Skills and Revision Seminar for 6th years is fully booked and we hope local students find it to be a useful session.

We have two further upcoming programmes for teens here in Ballyroan Library – we would be so grateful if the information could be circulated to English teachers and students.

Firstly, we are launching a new Teen Write Club – a creative writing group for ages 13-17. First meeting will take place on the 13 February and will be launched by writer Maeve Devoy. Booking here: Teen Write Club Tickets, Tue 13 Feb 2024 at 17:00 | Eventbrite

Secondly, we are also holding a Teen Flash Fiction competition, closing date Friday 22 March at 4pm. In this competition, young writers, aged 13-17 are invited to write a short story to a maximum of 1000 words. Each story must be a complete, stand-alone story, with a beginning, middle and end and offer some character and plot development. Email entries to ballyroan@sdublincoco.ie

We would like to wish every student the very best of luck with their upcoming mock exams. We are glad that so many students are making good use of our study spaces. Students have been very respectful of other library users and each other. In the event that the coming weeks bring new students along to the library, we would be so grateful if you could circulate the below points:

  • Our study spaces are allocated on a first come first serve basis.
  • If our study spaces are at capacity, students cannot move chairs from other sections of the library, occupy the junior library, sit in front of library pcs, sit on the floor, or in hallways. This is a health and safety risk and prevents access to services for other library users.
  • If our study spaces are at capacity, we would ask students not to loiter in the library for non-study related activities but to move on to their school or homes. Large groups of students congregating on the library floor is disruptive to other library users and may become a health and safety issue.
  • Students must be considerate of other library users and keep noise levels to a minimum. They must mute their phone and hold conversations outside.
  • Eating is not permitted in the library.
  • Students must place all rubbish in designated bins and must not litter.

If you have any further queries please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Kind regards

Emma
