Transition Year

Transition Year

Transition Year aims to lay the foundation for students for Fifth and Sixth years and for preparation for students who will sit the Leaving Certificate. The main goal of Transition Year in Templeogue College is to enable students to learn the various skills and to encourage students to mature in order to complete a successful Leaving Certificate Programme.

A major factor in this is subject selection for fifth year. One of the key elements of this Transition Year Programme is to guide students in this process by providing:

• Career guidance

• Academic core subjects

• Short courses

• Work experience programme

• Career visits and lectures

• Subject information booklets and information session

• Project work in various modules

• Other trips and learning programmes.

Students will be provided with many learning opportunities and to explore other subject areas prior to making their subject choice for Leaving Certificate. Templeogue College Transition Year Programme will facilitate students to explore their own talents and abilities beyond the school calendar and timetable
