Religious Education - SENIOR CYCLE
In Templeogue College, the Senior Cycle Religious Education (R.E.) programme has two options.
- Non-Exam R.E. - all students will participate in.
- Leaving Certificate Exam R.E. - students may select this subject as one of their Senior Cycle options.
Non-Exam R.E. operates on a modular basis. Students will attend R.E. classes for 2 hours per week on their timetable. They will have a R.E. teacher for a portion of the year and once this module is complete, they will move to another R.E. teacher for a new module.
In Senior Cycle R.E. we build on the knowledge, understanding, skills, attitudes and values introduced at Junior Cycle. By exploring multiple faiths and non-religious responses to questions about life our students may learn more about their own belief system which forms part of our Mission Statement. Students are encouraged to continue growing in their own spiritual (religious and non-religious traditions) practices.
The modules covered in non-exam R.E. at Senior Cycle may include:
- Wellbeing and Mindful Practices
- Religious Experiences and Social Issues
- Introduction to Moral Philosophy
- Ancient and Personal Symbols
- Cults, Sectarianism, Conflict and Forgiveness
