Digital Media Literacy
Digital Media Literacy is completed in first year only and is not a Junior Cycle exam.
DML is aimed at equipping students with essential digital skills that will support their academic work and enhance their confidence in using technology effectively. Key topics we cover are:
- Folder Structure & Organisation: Ensuring students can save and manage their files in a structured and accessible way.
- Word Processing: Developing skills to create well-formatted, professional documents with appropriate layout and formatting.
- Presentation Skills (PowerPoint): Learning how to design engaging and effective presentations that effectively convey key messages.
- Email Communication: Understanding the components of an email and developing proper email etiquette.
- Online Wellbeing: Exploring the benefits and challenges of the online world while learning strategies to navigate it safely and responsibly.
- Basic Coding & Problem-Solving: Introducing fundamental coding concepts through the creation of an arcade game and engaging in problem-solving activities.
By the end of the year, students will have developed practical digital skills that will assist them in their studies.
